Manchester United manager Michael Carrick faces pressure amid crisis
Manchester United manager Michael Carrick remains in his position despite a severe run of form, including eight consecutive matches without a win and a recent 3-0 home defeat to Bournemouth. The club currently sits 16th in the Premier League, just one point above the relegation zone.
Internal tensions between Carrick and captain Bruno Fernandes have reportedly been addressed through private discussions at the Carrington training ground. Fernandes, who was benched for the Bournemouth match following public criticism of the team’s tactics, will retain his captaincy and is expected to be available for the upcoming match against Chelsea.
The squad is also facing significant injury setbacks. Striker Benjamin Sesko is expected to be sidelined until at least January 2027 due to a persistent shin injury. Additionally, Marcus Rashford has returned to fitness training but remains unavailable for full team training due to a hip issue.
While the club hierarchy has decided to give Carrick more time to improve results, speculation regarding potential replacements like Julian Nagelsmann or Eddie Howe continues. Midfielder Youri Tielemans has expressed support for Carrick, emphasizing the need for stability within the squad.
