Manchester United secures land for new 100,000‑seat stadium near Old Trafford
Manchester United announced the purchase of roughly 100 acres of land adjacent to Old Trafford, securing the majority of the site needed for its planned 100,000‑seat stadium. The acquisition is a key step in a broader £2 billion redevelopment project that will expand capacity by about 25,000 seats and integrate a mixed‑use precinct.
The scheme, which also includes 15,000 new homes, is projected to create 48,000 local jobs and 90,000 jobs nationwide. The club aims to complete the stadium by 2030, with the venue slated to host the final of the 2035 Women's World Cup. Colette Rose, project director, said the land deal “marks a significant milestone as we move into the next phase of development.”
