Manchester United sells Old Trafford turf as memorabilia

Manchester United has begun selling pieces of the Old Trafford pitch as memorabilia. The souvenirs consist of 7 x 7 centimeter sections of turf preserved in glass cubes, priced at £125 each. This initiative follows the first complete removal and replacement of the stadium's playing surface in 14 years, a project led by groundskeeper Tony Sinclair to improve player safety and drainage.

The sale comes amid significant financial scrutiny for the club. While Manchester United reported record revenues of approximately £677.6 million for the 2025-2026 season and an operating profit of £22.6 million, the club continues to face a total debt exceeding £1 billion. Additionally, the club has confirmed expenditures of over £60 million for land acquisition related to a planned new stadium project, which is estimated to cost more than £2 billion.
