Manchester United Leads Pursuit of Roma Midfielder Manu Kone

Manchester United are reported as the frontrunners in the race to sign French midfielder Manu Kone, who impressed for France at the 2026 World Cup and has been a key player for AS Roma. The club has opened formal talks with Roma and is expected to submit an offer within days, with reported valuations ranging from €50 million to £47 million.

AS Roma have set a price above €50 million, citing the need to meet UEFA Financial Fair Play requirements. United, who have already added midfielders Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans this summer, are looking for a third central midfielder to bolster a squad that also lost Casemiro on a free transfer.

Other Premier League teams, including Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Aston Villa, have been linked with Kone, but reports suggest United hold the “upper hand” and aim to beat rivals to an agreement. Roma have also prepared a shortlist of potential replacements should they sell Kone.
