Manchester United faces squad crisis ahead of Como Champions League match

Manchester United enters their UEFA Champions League fixture against Como amidst a significant injury crisis and mounting pressure on manager Michael Carrick. The club is currently enduring its worst Premier League start in 40 years, having secured only one victory in their opening seven league matches.

Head coach Michael Carrick confirmed that several key players will be unavailable for the trip to Italy. The defensive line is particularly depleted, with Lisandro Martinez, Ayden Heaven, and Leny Yoro all sidelined, while Luke Shaw and Kobbie Mainoo are also expected to miss the match. Marcus Rashford is also facing fitness concerns due to a hip issue.

Despite the personnel shortages, Matthijs de Ligt is reported to be ready for selection following a long-term recovery. Carrick faces the challenge of stabilizing a team that has gone six matches without a win across all competitions, following recent struggles in both the Premier League and the Champions League.
