Manchester United target Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali in £70‑80 million bid

Manchester United are preparing a £70‑80 million offer for Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali, with new manager Michael Carrick and owners INEOS backing the move. The club has already secured Atalanta goalkeeper Ederson for £35 million and sees Tonali as a top priority for the summer.

Newcastle have extended Tonali’s contract to 2029, giving them strong negotiating leverage, and expect a fee close to £100 million, though the Red Devils are expected to start talks at the lower end of their range. Tonali’s agent has indicated the player would consider a move, and his lack of a World Cup in 2024 may accelerate negotiations. Arsenal and Manchester City are also monitoring the midfielder, while United remain linked with other targets such as West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes and Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson.
