Manchester United target several midfield signings ahead of 2026‑27 season

Manchester United are actively pursuing multiple midfield options as they prepare for the 2026‑27 campaign. The club has been linked with Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha, who would command a fee of about €120 million. Reports suggest Nmecha prefers a move to Old Trafford and is not interested in Newcastle United.

United’s broader midfield plan involves a £150 million budget for three players. The breakdown includes roughly £80 million for a marquee signing, £40 million for a replacement for Manuel Ugarte, and £20 million for a third option. While United have shown interest in Middlesbrough captain Hayden Hackney, Everton have reportedly agreed a £25 million fee with Middlesbrough, leaving United out of that deal. Manchester City have already secured Elliot Anderson for a British transfer record, and Tottenham Hotspur are competing with United for West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes.

These moves come as United seek to add creativity and defensive solidity to a squad that finished strongly last season but aims to challenge for league and European titles.
