Manchester United targeting defensive and midfield reinforcements

Manchester United is exploring several transfer options to strengthen its squad, with a focus on the defense and midfield. The club is reportedly considering Bournemouth's Adrien Truffert as a solution for the left-back position, with Newcastle United's Lewis Hall also identified as a priority target.

Regarding the central defense, INEOS is planning a significant defensive overhaul by 2027. While players like Luke Shaw and Lisandro Martínez may depart, the club is expected to trigger a contract extension for Harry Maguire to provide veteran leadership for younger defenders.

In the midfield, United has maintained interest in Borussia Dortmund's Felix Nmecha. Although the club has made contact ahead of the winter window, a mid-season move appears difficult due to Dortmund's high valuation and the lack of an active release clause before 2027. United faces competition from Liverpool for the German international.
