Manchester United targets defensive reinforcements

Manchester United is exploring several options to strengthen its defensive line ahead of the January transfer window. The club has identified Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite as a primary target to potentially replace Lisandro Martinez, whose future at Old Trafford remains uncertain following reported tensions with club leadership regarding transfer investment.

In addition to Branthwaite, Manchester United is monitoring AS Roma's Wesley Franca. The 23-year-old Brazilian defender is viewed as a versatile solution for the left-back position, a role that has become increasingly difficult to fill due to injuries to Luke Shaw and the tactical deployment of other squad members. Wesley's ability to play on both flanks has made him a notable candidate for the club's defensive needs.
