Manchester United targets Lewis Hall and David Raum for left-back

Manchester United is actively seeking to strengthen its left-back position ahead of the new season. The club has reportedly given internal approval to pursue Newcastle United’s Lewis Hall, though Newcastle has valued the 21-year-old England international at approximately £60 million. While Hall is reportedly open to the move, Newcastle’s current stance is to retain him, making a deal potentially difficult to finalize.

As an alternative, RB Leipzig’s David Raum has emerged as an attractive option. Raum, a German international, features a £34 million release clause in his contract. He was highly productive in the Bundesliga last season, ranking first among left-backs in assists, expected assists, and big chances created.

The search for defensive depth follows the departure of Tyrell Malacia and ongoing concerns regarding Luke Shaw’s injury history and recent pre-season performances.
