Manchester United targets multiple signings as Carrick reshapes squad
Manchester United manager Michael Carrick is active in the summer transfer window, looking to strengthen a squad that finished third in the Premier League and will compete in the Champions League. Reported targets include Brazilian midfielder Ederson from Atalanta, Portuguese midfielder Mateus Fernandes from Tottenham, and Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali. The club also flew 18‑year‑old Colombian prospect Cristian Orozco, dubbed the “New Caicedo,” to Manchester for a medical and to join the under‑21s.
In addition, United have shown interest in Germany’s Felix Nmecha, whose Borussia Dortmund contract carries a £75 million buy‑out clause. A separate rumour links a potential swap deal for Liverpool right‑back Trent Alexander‑Arnold with Real Madrid, which could involve United defender Diogo Dalot moving the other way. Mourinho’s role in the negotiations is also being discussed, with differing views from him and Carrick on the proposed exchanges.
