Manchester United push midfield overhaul with Santos, Tielemans and Alex Scott target

Manchester United, under new head coach Michael Carrick, have begun a summer rebuild of their midfield. The club completed two signings: Andrey Santos from Chelsea for around £50 million and Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa for £35 million, with Tielemans taking the iconic No. 18 shirt. Owner‑group INEOS has indicated a focus on player sales before pursuing a third midfielder.

United have identified Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott as a priority, but Bournemouth’s £80 million price tag is deemed too high. Other names linked to the search include Roma’s Manu Kóné, Real Madrid’s Eduardo Camavinga, and a possible pursuit of French international Aurélien Tchouaméni, though his Real Madrid contract and cost make the move unlikely. Defender Noussair Mazraoui has attracted interest from AC Milan, where former United manager Rubén Amorim now works, but United are reluctant to sell.

In parallel, striker Marcus Rashford’s future looks uncertain after a loan spell at Barcelona did not result in a permanent deal. The club’s transfer activity marks the first moves of Carrick’s first full season in charge.
