Manchester United to bid £80m for West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes
Manchester United are preparing a high‑value offer, estimated at around £80 million, for 21‑year‑old Portuguese midfielder Mateus Fernandes. The club aims to strengthen its midfield ahead of the next season and is reported to be ahead of rivals such as Arsenal, Real Madrid and Paris Saint‑Germain in the race for the player.
West Ham United, newly relegated to the Championship, have set a valuation of roughly £80 million for Fernandes, their most valuable asset after a strong individual season that could not prevent the team’s drop. United’s initial bid is expected to be in the region of €75 million (£65 million), below West Ham’s asking price, but the Premier League club believes it can secure the transfer before the summer window closes. Fernandes has expressed a desire to move to Old Trafford, and the deal could provide West Ham with much‑needed funds.
