Manchester United urged to sign free‑agent striker Robert Lewandowski
Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has called on the club to sign 37‑year‑old Polish striker Robert Lewandowski, who will become a free agent after his contract with Barcelona ends. Ferdinand said Lewandowski’s experience could bolster United’s attacking options and help mentor young forward Benjamin Sesko, even if his wages would be high.
He noted United also need depth in midfield and may look for two or three midfield signings, but adding a veteran striker would provide cover for the uncertain future of Joshua Zirkzee. Lewandowski, a prolific scorer at Bayern Munich and Barcelona, is reportedly attracting interest from Saudi clubs and MLS, yet Ferdinand believes he would be a “wonderful, humble” presence at Old Trafford.
The suggestion comes as United prepare for a busy summer transfer window following a third‑place Premier League finish and Champions League qualification.
