Manchester United's £35m Ederson transfer collapses, prompting Atalanta rebuttal

In June, Manchester United and Atalanta agreed on a £35 million deal for midfielder Ederson. The transfer fell apart after a full medical highlighted a fitness concern, leading United to abandon the move. Atalanta responded by posting videos and photos of Ederson to prove his condition, describing the action as a "pointed message" to the Premier League club.

Ederson, 27, expressed disappointment and subsequently signed a new contract with Atalanta, though the length was not disclosed. United, meanwhile, have secured Andrey Santos from Chelsea and Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa and continue scouting a third midfielder. The deal was delayed by a late call‑up to Brazil’s World Cup squad, which postponed Ederson’s medical until after the tournament.
