Manchester United's transfer setbacks draw interest from Chelsea and Atalanta

Manchester United’s summer transfer activity has hit a snag. A reported deal for Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos was confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, but the club’s pursuit of other targets such as Aurelien Tchouaméni, Elliot Anderson and Mateus Fernandes has stalled. The Red Devils are now linked with players including Joao Gomes, Alex Scott, Ayyoub Bouaddi and Manu Kone.

At the same time, a prospective move for Atalanta forward Ederson to United collapsed after a medical raised concerns about his knees. Atalanta have offered Ederson a new five‑year contract, insisting he is fully fit, while United have denied the transfer is off, though reports suggest the deal is likely dead.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are eyeing former Manchester United targets. The club is monitoring Botafogo midfielder Danilo and Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa, with the latter’s €60 million release clause reportedly attractive to Xabi Alonso’s side.
