Manciano launches new self-defense and urban safety program
The Municipality of Manciano has launched ‘Manciano in sicurezza’, a new training program focused on self-defense, awareness, and urban safety. Organized through the Social Affairs Department, the project will be presented on Friday, September 18, at Le Stanze in via Cavour 6.
Developed by the Sporting Club Albinia under the technical direction of Master Aveliano Bettolini, the course utilizes the national multidisciplinary Kan Juko Ryu system. It is open to residents of Manciano and neighboring municipalities, regardless of gender, for individuals aged 13 and older.
Vice Mayor and Social Affairs Assessor Roberto Bulgarini stated that the goal is to focus on prevention, risk awareness, and the ability to manage critical situations. Beyond physical techniques, the program includes instruction on the legal aspects of self-defense, specifically referencing Article 52 of the Penal Code. The curriculum covers the principles of necessity, the immediacy of danger, and proportionality, while emphasizing de-escalation strategies to treat physical reaction as a last resort. Following the presentation, the course will consist of 16 sessions, each lasting 90 minutes.
