Mandiner editors depart citing concerns over government control

Editors Dániel Kacsoh, Mátyás Kohán, and Krisztián Lentulai have announced their departure from the Mandiner editorial staff. The group cited concerns over potential government takeover and political pressure as the primary reasons for leaving. Dániel Kacsoh, the former deputy editor-in-chief, stated that the move follows comments by Péter Magyar regarding the possibility of the state taking ownership of Mandiner to control its content.

The departing editors expressed their intention to establish a new media outlet that maintains a critically conservative spirit. They characterized their departure as a protest against government pressure and manual control over media content.

In a related development, the media outlet Reakció, which previously served as a predecessor to Mandiner, has resumed operations in a trial phase. In a recent analysis, Reakció reviewed the past 16 years of the Orbán administration, outlining several criticisms including macro-corruption, a state-directed economy, and the economic consequences of utility price reductions.
