Mandiri Development Centre bank accounts frozen in money laundering probe

Malaysian police have frozen five bank accounts as part of an ongoing money laundering investigation into Mandiri Development Centre Sdn Bhd. The investigation, conducted by the Bukit Aman Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorism Financing Centre (AMLA), was initiated following reports that the company may have received funds suspected to be derived from illegal activities between 2024 and 2026.

Two directors of the company, Executive Director Amir Hariri Abdul Hadi and Finance Director Dobby Chew, were previously detained for questioning and remanded for three days before being released last Thursday.

Authorities are currently investigating the storage, transfer, and use of the suspected funds under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001. While the specific amounts held in the frozen accounts have not been disclosed, police stated that more individuals will be summoned to assist with the ongoing probe.
