Mandya: Large cash sum found in home of deceased elderly beggar

Following the death of an elderly woman who lived by begging in Mandya, Karnataka, locals discovered a large sum of cash at her rented residence. The deceased, identified as Hoor Unnisa, had reportedly lived alone for approximately two years following the death of her sister and passed away due to age-related illnesses.

Upon inspecting her home after her funeral, neighbors found more than 30 sacks containing coins and banknotes. The total amount is estimated to be between 30 lakh and 40 lakh rupees. While some locals suggested donating the funds to the mosque where she frequently begged, the mosque committee declined the money.

Reports indicate that one of Unnisa's brothers, who is financially stable, refused the funds, while another brother eventually took possession of the cash after discussions with those present. The discovery has raised questions among residents regarding how the woman accumulated such significant savings while claiming to have no family support.
