Wolfsberger AC appoints Manfred Schmid as head coach

Wolfsberger AC Manfred Schmid Austrian Bundesliga Thomas Silberberger football coaching

Wolfsberger AC has appointed Manfred Schmid as its new head coach following the departure of Thomas Silberberger. The decision comes after the club, currently at the bottom of the Austrian Bundesliga, suffered a five-game losing streak, including a recent 0-2 home defeat against WSG Tirol.

Schmid, 55, returns for a second stint at the club, having previously managed the team from March 2023 to June 2024. He expressed a desire to stabilize the squad and address player insecurity. His first competitive match will be an away game against his former club, TSV Hartberg.

Alongside Schmid, the coaching staff changes include the departures of co-coaches Jonas Hildebrandt and David Sencar, as well as Hannes Jochum.
