Manfred Ugalde remains at Spartak Moscow amid transfer interest

Costa Rican striker Manfred Ugalde remains at Spartak Moscow despite efforts to facilitate a move back to Europe. His agent, Kurt Morsink, stated that while there is a strong desire for the 24-year-old to play in one of Europe’s top five leagues, Spartak Moscow recently rejected a bid of between 15 and 17 million euros from a Mexican club.

Ugalde joined the Russian club in January 2024 for 13 million euros. His tenure has seen fluctuating performance; after a scoreless first six months, he became the Russian Premier League top scorer with 17 goals in 29 matches during his second season. Following a dip to five goals last season, he has started the current campaign strongly with two goals in six matches.
