Manfredonia to Host Italian Junior Double Sailing Championships Sep 2026
Manfredonia in Puglia will host the Italian Junior Double Sailing Championships from 5‑10 September 2026. The event will feature roughly 500 youth sailors competing in six classes – 420, 29er, RS Feva, Nacra 15, Hobie Cat 16 and Hobie Dragoon – with about 225‑250 boats and six junior titles at stake.
The championships were presented at a conference in Bari by regional authorities and sailing officials, including Francesco Ettorre, president of the Italian Sailing Federation (FIV), and Cristian Casili, vice‑president of the Puglia Region and sports assessor. Local representatives – Mayor Domenico La Marca, Gargano Sailing Club president Ilenia Clemente, and CONI Puglia president Angelo Giliberto – also attended. The region has earmarked €80,000 to support the event, which is part of the Puglia 2026 European Region of Sport programme aimed at promoting sport, tourism and territorial development.
Ettorre said, “Siamo felici di tornare in Puglia… Coinvolgerà oltre 500 ragazzi, il meglio della vela giovanile italiana,” underscoring the championship’s role in showcasing the future of Italian sailing.
