Manga Nippon Mukashibanashi Exhibition opens at Azabudai Hills

The “Manga Nippon Mukashibanashi Exhibition” is currently being held at Azabudai Hills in Tokyo, running from September 18 to October 25, 2026. The event celebrates the 50th anniversary of the iconic Japanese folklore animation series, which was famously narrated by Etsuko Ichihara and Fujio Tsutada.

A major highlight of the exhibition is the world’s first use of authorized AI voice technology to provide a multilingual experience. Developed by VOICENCE Company, the “cross-lingual synthetic voice technology” allows visitors to interact with digital signage in six languages: Japanese, English, French, Spanish, Chinese, and Korean. The technology preserves the unique tone and characteristics of the original narrators' voices while translating the content.

Visitors can also explore large-scale physical exhibits, including a 1.8-meter tall “Ningen” figure and a 6-meter long “Dragon and Boy” sculpture. The pop-up event includes themed photo spots, original merchandise, and a collaborative cafe.
