Manga Overlord: New World enters hiatus following Matsuki's hospitalization

The manga series Overlord: New World (Overlord [Shin] Sekai-hen) has entered an indefinite hiatus following the sudden hospitalization of its illustrator, Matsuki. The artist announced the delay via X on October 7, 2026, stating that medical treatment and an extended recovery period are required.

Kadokawa confirmed the hiatus through its digital platform, KadoComi. The pause follows the release of Chapter 23-3 in September 2026 and occurs just as the adaptation began the Holy Kingdom Arc. While no specific return date has been set, Matsuki expressed intentions to resume serialization once recovery is complete to ensure production maintains a high visual standard.

Overlord: New World serves as a sequel to the original manga adaptation, continuing the story from Light Novel Volume 10. The franchise includes various media, including the Overlord anime series and the film Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom.
