Mangalia: Teenager struck by train while wearing headphones
A 19-year-old woman was struck by a train at the Mangalia railway station on a Saturday evening. Preliminary investigations suggest the incident occurred around 7:10 PM when the young woman attempted to cross the tracks from the platform without ensuring the way was clear.
Authorities noted that the individual was wearing audio headphones at the time of the accident. The impact projected her under the train, which was traveling on the Mangalia–Constanța route. She was subsequently transported to a local hospital for medical care; reports indicate she was conscious and without visible injuries.
The locomotive driver underwent an alcohol test, which returned a negative result. While a criminal case has been opened to investigate the circumstances, railway traffic was not affected by the event. Police and CFR S.A. have issued warnings regarding the dangers of unauthorized track crossing and the use of mobile phones or headphones near rails, which can isolate individuals from critical auditory warnings.
