Mangaluru emerges as a growing technology and business hub in Karnataka

Mangaluru is positioning itself as a major technology and business hub in Karnataka, a development highlighted during the Mangaluru Technovanza 2026 event. The region is being described as a potential ‘Silicon Beach’ due to its growing ecosystem of startups, Global Capability Centres (GCCs), and skilled talent.

According to Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge, the region has added over 60 new companies and 13,000 jobs in the last three years. The area currently hosts more than 300 technology companies, 400 startups, and a workforce exceeding 50,000. Infrastructure development, including over 1 million square feet of Grade-A office space under construction, is a key component of this growth.

LK Atheeq, Finance Adviser to the Chief Minister, noted that Mangaluru’s potential is supported by its educational institutions, such as the National Institute of Technology Karnataka, and its historical ties to the banking sector. He emphasized that the Sustainable Data Centre Policy and the city's coastal location provide strategic advantages for attracting data centers and cable landing stations.
