Rodrigo Santos Bondim, Mangaratiba Secretary, Dies in Rio‑Santos Highway Crash

Rodrigo Santos Bondim, the 50‑year‑old municipal secretary of Public Order in Mangaratiba, died on 30 July after his car collided with a truck on the Rio‑Santos Highway (BR‑101) near the Muriqui access point. The impact destroyed his vehicle and left him trapped in the wreckage; he did not survive his injuries.

The municipality declared three days of official mourning, held a public viewing at the Estádio Municipal Cândido Jorge Capixaba, and scheduled burial at the Cemitério Municipal de Itacuruçá. Police investigations are ongoing to determine the accident’s circumstances, and the highway was temporarily closed, causing traffic disruptions in the region.
