Manggarai Timur officials deny BNPB pressure in earthquake aid distribution

The Manggarai Timur Regency Government has denied allegations that the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) pressured the North Lamba Leda District Head during the distribution of earthquake relief logistics.

The clarification follows a viral video showing District Head Agustinus Supratman in a debate with BNPB personnel at the Damer Health Service Post on August 21, 2026. Vice Regent Tarsisius Sjukur stated that an investigation confirmed no coercion occurred, including during the signing of official reports.

According to local officials, BNPB personnel are present to ensure central government aid reaches the affected population. Logistics are being distributed in stages across 12 impacted districts, coordinated through a regional main post led by the Regional Secretary to ensure aid reaches those in need.
