Mango prices in Egypt remain high despite the start of the season due to limited supply and a current reliance on only a few early varieties. Hussein Abu Saddam, head of the General Syndicate of Farmers, noted that prices fluctuate based on quality, ripeness, and the specific variety being offered.

Market stability is expected to improve as more popular varieties, such as ‘Zibdia’ and ‘Sukkari’, enter the market. Additionally, the ‘Keitt’ variety, which is grown locally, is anticipated to appear in September and October, further increasing supply and consumer choice.

The current season faces challenges from climate change and rising temperatures, which have impacted flowering and fruit ripening in certain areas. These environmental factors, combined with increased production costs for irrigation, fertilization, and pest control, have placed additional pressure on farmers and market prices.
