Mangueira launches 2027 samba‑enredo eliminations featuring Xande de Pilares and Karinah
On Saturday, 1 August, the Estação Primeira de Mangueira began its eliminations for the 2027 Carnival samba‑enredo competition. The partnership Samba 03, composed of Gilson Bernini, Xande de Pilares, Gustavo Clarão, singer‑composer Karinah, Beto Savanna and Felipe Mussili, presented their entry titled “Oyá por Nós”. The theme honors the African orixá Oyá, a symbol of female strength, and was created by carnavalesco Sidney França.
Karinah emphasized that the contest represents more than a song, highlighting the role of women in the Mangueira tradition. The partnership aims to reach the final on 5 September at the Palácio do Samba and, if successful, have their samba performed on 9 February 2027 at the Marquês de Sapucaí, closing the Grupo Especial parade.
