Manhattan Immigrant Welcome Center opens in Harlem
Manhattan Borough President Brad Hoylman-Sigal has inaugurated the Manhattan Immigrant Welcome Center in Harlem. Located at 431 West 125th Street, the center is designed to serve as a centralized resource for both recent arrivals and long-term New York residents.
In partnership with organizations such as the New York Legal Assistance Group (NYLAG), NYC Care, and Cabrini Immigrant Services, the center provides access to legal assistance, housing support, healthcare enrollment, and SNAP benefits. Staff members are available in multiple languages, including Spanish, to help navigate language barriers and agency procedures.
Local officials, including Congressman Adriano Espaillat and State Senator Cordell Cleare, participated in the opening. Leaders framed the initiative as a proactive response to federal immigration enforcement and a commitment to providing essential services to help immigrant families thrive in the city.
