Manhattan: Person of interest surrenders in killing of mother
Tiliek Shamel Thompson, 41, has surrendered to the New York City police as a person of interest in the killing of 27-year-old Lovay Williams. Thompson turned himself in at the 33rd Precinct station house on Saturday, according to his attorney, Neville Dexter.
Williams was found dead in her Washington Heights apartment on September 6 following a wellness check. Investigators believe the death, which involved the victim being beaten to death, may be a case of domestic violence. The victim's 7-year-old daughter was present in the home at the time the body was discovered but was reported to be unharmed.
Nuquan Williams, the victim's brother, stated that the perpetrator should not remain free. He noted that the child is currently being supported by family as she processes the event.
