Brazil reports multiple accidents, explosions, and security alerts
Various emergency incidents and accidents were reported across Brazil. In São Paulo, an explosion in an underground gallery on Avenida Paulista injured three people, including two women and one man, with first and second-degree burns. The incident was attributed to a suspected gas leak and was not linked to nearby political demonstrations. Additionally, the Higienópolis-Mackenzie metro station was temporarily closed due to a suspicious bag, though specialized police units found no explosives.
Multiple fatal and serious traffic accidents occurred, including a motorcycle collision in Porto Acre that left four people injured, one in critical condition, and a fatal crash in Santo Antônio do Monte where a 51-year-old motorcyclist died after hitting a stationary truck. Other notable incidents included a fatal head-on collision on the BR-163, a vehicle hitting a pole in Feira de Santana resulting in one death and several injuries, and a truck fire on the BR-376 in Guaratuba that blocked traffic.
Other reported events include a suspicious abandoned bag at Guarulhos International Airport that led to the temporary isolation of Terminal 3, and a shooting in Maceió where a woman was killed during an attack on a couple.
