Manhunt for Kevin Clay “KC” Adams after shooting at Mississippi deputies

A 26‑year‑old Smith County man, Kevin Clay “KC” Adams, is wanted after allegedly retrieving a firearm from his vehicle and firing at two deputies as they attempted to serve an arrest warrant near the Polkville Volunteer Fire Department on Highway 13 in Mississippi. Both deputies returned fire and escaped without injury. Adams fled on foot, is considered armed and dangerous, and has not been located despite a coordinated search.

Sheriff Joel Houston said the investigation has shifted several miles east toward the Bienville National Forest, where deputies, state and federal agents, and volunteers have been combing wooded areas, trails, and storage buildings. Adams was last seen wearing a green shirt, gray pants and work boots, standing about 5 ft 6 in tall and weighing roughly 125 lb. Residents are urged to keep homes and vehicles locked and report any sightings.

Authorities continue to seek information from the public while maintaining the search effort in the forested region surrounding Polkville.
