Manickam Tagore blames AIADMK and BJP for Tamil Nadu NEET crisis

Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) President Manickam Tagore has accused AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami of attempting to deflect responsibility for the implementation of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) in the state.

Tagore argued that the AIADMK administration enabled the entrance examination in 2017 after Palaniswami assumed office, noting that Tamil Nadu had remained outside the scope of NEET during the tenure of former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa. He claimed the AIADMK became dependent on the BJP-led Union government, which led to the decision to implement the test.

Furthermore, Tagore criticized the BJP-led central government for empowering the National Testing Agency, alleging that the system has become commercialized and dominated by coaching centers. He cited concerns regarding corruption, question-paper leaks, and examination irregularities that have placed significant pressure on students.
