Manikam Tagore rebukes DMK MLA Anitha Radhakrishnan's remarks
Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president M. Manikam Tagore condemned statements by DMK MLA Anitha R. Radhakrishnan that he described as insulting Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, saying leaders must keep public discourse decorous and noting the DMK is now out of power after the 2026 assembly elections.
Radhakrishnan was arrested by Thoothukudi police under Indian Penal Code sections 352 and 353(2) after a complaint by the ruling TVK party. She was taken to Tiruchendur court, underwent a medical exam and received interim bail about twelve hours after her arrest, following the Madras High Court’s earlier rejection of her anticipatory bail. Tagore also criticised Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwa Nath Arlekar for allegedly exceeding constitutional limits.
