Manila bus crash injures up to 10 people after brake failure

A bus crash on España Boulevard in Manila left at least eight to ten people injured on Friday evening, September 11, 2026, after the vehicle lost its braking capability.

The bus struck at least eight vehicles, including an SUV, a minibus, two jeepneys, and a motorcycle. Witnesses reported that the bus became difficult to control and plowed into the vehicles, with a motorcycle and its passenger reportedly becoming trapped between two jeepneys during the impact.

Emergency responders, including the RAHA Volunteers Fire Department and the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, transported victims to various medical facilities, including UST Hospital, Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center, and Ospital ng Maynila. Reports indicate that while some victims sustained minor injuries, others required more serious hospital treatment.

The Manila Police District and the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau are investigating the cause of the brake failure. The bus driver was taken to a hospital for medical examination and was also brought to the Manila Traffic Enforcement Unit for questioning. Authorities are considering charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple physical injuries and damage to property.
