Manila International Film Festival Announces 2026 Lineup Featuring DreamWorks' 'Forgotten Island
The Manila International Film Festival (MIFF) revealed the first wave of its 2026 program, showcasing 14 titles for the third annual event that will run from Sept. 3‑6. The centerpiece is an advance screening of DreamWorks Animation’s original feature “Forgotten Island,” inspired by Philippine folklore and shown three weeks before its U.S. theatrical release on Sept. 25. Screenings will take place at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, with the awards gala held at The Beverly Hilton.
Lea Salonga will receive the inaugural MIFF Icon Award and be honored with a retrospective during the closing‑night gala, coinciding with her upcoming Hollywood Walk of Fame star. Other announced films include Carl Joseph Papa’s “58th,” the documentary “Eddie Romero Remastered: A Century of Filipino Cinema,” Neal “Buboy” Tan’s thriller “Kappa‑Tiran,” and Keesa Ocampo’s “Pinay.” Executive Producer Lisa Lew said the lineup reflects the breadth of contemporary Filipino filmmaking and provides a platform for diaspora creators in Hollywood.
