Manila police arrest fake document manufacturer after viral video

Authorities in Manila arrested a man involved in manufacturing fraudulent documents, including fake passports and driver’s licenses, following a viral social media video. The operation, conducted by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Anti-Organized Crime Unit in the Sta. Cruz district, was prompted by a YouTube video posted by content creator “Discover with Joe HaTTab” which demonstrated the ease of obtaining forged travel documents.

CIDG officials stated that the video served as an initial lead, allowing investigators to conduct surveillance and identify the suspect. During the operation, police seized equipment used in the production of the counterfeit public documents.
