Manipur: 46 KCP-Taibangngaba cadres surrender arms in Imphal
Forty-six cadres of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP)-Taibangngaba group, including four women, surrendered their weapons and joined the mainstream during a ceremony in Imphal, Manipur. The surrender took place at the 1st Manipur Rifles Parade Ground and was attended by Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho, and various security and civil officials.
The group surrendered 20 arms, 216 rounds of ammunition, and three explosives. This event is viewed as a step toward the ongoing peace process and the reintegration of armed cadres into society in the state.
To support their rehabilitation, the Manipur government has implemented measures providing each returning cadre with four fixed deposits and a monthly stipend of Rs 6,000 for a period of three years.
