Manipur Chief Minister addresses Maring community demands
Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh met with representatives from the Maring and Tangkhul Naga communities of the Machi Block in Tengnoupal district to discuss regional development and security concerns.
The delegation, including leaders from the Maring Uparap Assembly, presented several urgent requirements, including the improvement of roads and bridges to enhance village connectivity. Healthcare needs were also prioritized, with a request to upgrade the Primary Health Centre at Machi to a Community Health Centre.
Security concerns were a major focus of the meeting. Representatives highlighted a significant shortage of law enforcement, noting that the Machi Block Police Station currently has only 25 personnel to cover approximately 50 villages. They also requested increased security for the Bank of Baroda, the sole banking institution serving the area. Additionally, the community called for the construction of community halls in every village to support social and public activities. The Chief Minister assured the delegation that the government is committed to addressing these issues to ensure a peaceful and inclusive state.
