Manipur CM Yumnam Khemchand Singh pushes transparent recruitment and peace in post‑arson recovery

Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh said that a transparent, merit‑based recruitment system for government services strengthens public confidence. He attended the felicitation of the Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) 2022 batch, praised private coaching centres, and deliberately avoided meeting the commission chairman before the results were announced to ensure impartiality. Singh also highlighted the state’s scholarship scheme, allocating Rs 2.8 crore annually to support the top 200 civil‑service aspirants.

The CM visited the violence‑hit Kanto Sabal area in Imphal West district after a July 11 arson that burned six Meitei‑community houses. He urged communal harmony, stating that lasting peace is the foundation for development in infrastructure, education and healthcare. Singh oversaw the reconstruction of the damaged homes, ordered additional security forces, and received a memorandum on local security concerns, promising prompt action to restore normalcy.
