Manipur partners with BHASHINI to expand multilingual digital services
The Manipur government and the Digital India BHASHINI Division (DIBD) have partnered to advance multilingual artificial intelligence and language technology across the state. During a BHASHINI Rajyam Workshop in Imphal, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed to integrate Indian language solutions into government and citizen-facing digital services.
The initiative aims to use BHASHINI’s Language-First Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) to make public information and services more accessible in local languages, particularly for remote and underserved communities. Key areas for integration include education, healthcare, legal services, and grievance redressal. The workshop featured a live demonstration of real-time English-to-Manipuri translation to showcase the technology's potential.
Additionally, the Manipur government is set to inaugurate an eSeva Kendra to provide assisted access to digital government services, helping citizens navigate administrative procedures. The state is also expected to exchange an MoU with Microsoft to further strengthen technology partnerships.
