Five hardcore militants linked to the Kangleipak Communist Party, Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup and the United National Liberation Front were arrested, including two UNLF cadres Mutum Seitaraj Singh (31) and Thounaojam Rakesh Meitei (35). A Maruti Suzuki Swift used by the UNLF members was seized.
Two drug peddlers, Sheikh Salauddin (46) and Chongtham Anilkumar Singh (38), were apprehended after a raid on an auto‑care workshop on the Imphal‑Jiribam Highway uncovered 30 soap cases containing 346 g of suspected brown sugar, valued at over ₹50 lakh. Security forces also recovered a large cache of weapons and explosives, including modified .303 rifles, bolt‑action guns, pistols, a Chinese hand grenade, a locally‑made ‘Pompi’ gun, a 12‑bore rifle, live rounds, an improvised mortar shell, an IED and 15 barrel cartridges.
In a related operation, a 56‑year‑old woman, Zenngaihniang, was arrested in Churachandpur district for routing more than ₹28.78 lakh to suspected drug‑trade beneficiaries in Myanmar, with cash registers and a counting machine seized.
