Manipur security forces seize weapons, arrest militants and drug peddlers
Security forces in Manipur conducted a series of intelligence‑based operations across districts including Imphal West, Imphal East, Tengnoupal, Kakching, Thoubal, Ukhrul and others. The raids resulted in the arrest of several hardcore militants belonging to banned insurgent groups such as the Kangleipak Communist Party, People's Liberation Army, Revolutionary People’s Front, Socialist Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak, Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup and the United National Liberation Front. In separate anti‑narcotics actions, a drug peddler identified as Letmintgang Haolai and two additional traffickers were seized, along with brown sugar estimated at a value of several crore rupees.
Authorities also recovered large caches of arms, ammunition and explosives, including self‑loading rifles, INSAS and AK‑series rifles, .303 rifles, pistols, a Chinese hand grenade, locally‑made "Pompi" guns, improvised explosive devices and thousands of live cartridges. The operations were undertaken jointly by central and state agencies, which continue intensified search and area‑domination exercises in fringe and mixed‑population zones of the state.
