Manisa authorities seize 61 animals in illegal wildlife trade operation

Authorities in the Soma district of Manisa, Turkey, have seized 61 animals during an operation targeting illegal wildlife trade. The seizure, conducted by the General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks, included 18 tarantula hatchlings, one orange baboon tarantula, one savanna monitor, one Nile monitor, and 40 giant African land snails.

The animals, which are protected under CITES regulations, have been transferred to the Celal Acar Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Center in Bursa for care. The individual involved in the illegal trade was issued an administrative fine in accordance with Hunting Law No. 4915.
