Manisa Bus Terminal entrance blocked during eviction protests
Protests erupted at the Manisa Intercity Bus Terminal after authorities began evicting ticket booths as part of a new tender process. Former operators, including representatives from Manisa Seyahat, blocked the terminal’s main entrance with buses for approximately four hours to protest the decision.
Levent Zibeller, President of the Manisa Seyahat Cooperative, stated that the eviction was carried out because the deadline set by the governorate and district governorate had expired. He noted that the legal challenge regarding the matter is currently pending before the Council of State.
Haşim Angi, the winner of the tender, defended the process, stating it was initiated following municipal elections and reports from the Court of Accounts to prevent public loss. Angi claimed the new tender significantly increased rental values, with prices rising from 17,000 lira to 400,000 lira. He characterized the protest as an attempt to create chaos and cause public hardship.
