Manisa Celal Bayar University hosts pediatric sepsis awareness training
Manisa Celal Bayar University (MCBÜ) Hafsa Sultan Hospital organized an awareness training program focused on pediatric sepsis as part of World Sepsis Week. The initiative was a collaborative effort between the departments of Pediatric Emergency, Pediatric Intensive Care, and Pediatric Infectious Diseases.
During the program, Hospital Chief Prof. Dr. İsmet Topçu emphasized the critical importance of early diagnosis in children, noting that sepsis can lead to rapid clinical deterioration and organ dysfunction. He highlighted that sepsis is a highly lethal condition, with mortality rates potentially reaching 50-60 percent, and stated that “early diagnosis may significantly reduce the death rate.”
The training aimed to improve the recognition and timely initiation of treatment for sepsis in children, building upon existing medical training protocols that have traditionally focused on adult patients.
