Manisa City Theatre opens 20th season with 'Duruş' theme
The Manisa Metropolitan Municipality City Theatre has launched its 2026-2027 season, marking its 20th anniversary. The new season is themed ‘Duruş’ and commenced with the performance of ‘G. D. K. (Genetiği Değiştirilmiş Kadınlar Projesi)’, a play written by Ali Erkan Ersezer and directed by General Artistic Director Kubilay Penbeklioğlu.
During the opening ceremony at the Uğur Mumcu Stage, Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Besim Dutlulu expressed satisfaction with the theatre's development, stating that Manisa is progressing toward becoming a capital of culture and a city that lives through theatre. The upcoming season aims to include a diverse repertoire of adult and children's plays, as well as participation in national and international festivals.
In addition to new productions, the theatre plans to continue its tours to represent Manisa on various platforms. The municipality also noted that the third annual Theatre Festival will be held as part of the International Manisa Mesir Macunu Festival.
